Care and Maintenance For Your Conklin Candle

Congratulations on your Conklin Luxury Candle purchase! Here are a few simple tips and techniques that will ensure it offers maximum enjoyment, longevity and value.

* Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface, away from curtains, wall hangings, or other decorations. Also try, if possible, to place your candle away from active air currents, as this can cause an uneven burn

* Store your candle in a cool, dark place when it is not in use to preserve its lustrous color and pleasant fragrance

* The first burn is the most important. Keep the candle lit for one to two hours so the wax melts all the way to the edges of the candle's premium vessel. This will prevent future tunneling, which leaves unused wax around the sides and shortens the life of your candle

* On the other hand, a candle burn of more than four hours is not recommended either, as this will cause the wax to thin and the fragrance to lose some of its potency during future burns

* Never burn a candle all the way to the bottom, which will result in the bottom of the glass vessel growing dangerously hot. Once there is about a quarter inch of wax left in the bottom, extinguish the candle, let it cool, and then remove the remaining wax and keep the decorative vessel. Wipe away any soot or wax residue with a damp cloth

* As always, never leave a burning candle unattended or within the reach of children or pets

* If you don't have one, consider purchasing a wick trimmer. Trimming the candle wick a small amount (about one quarter of an inch) each time you light it will reduce soot and flickering, while ensuring a brighter, more stable flame

* Another useful purchase is a candle snuffer, which allows you to extinguish the candle without spattering wax or leaving a residue of soot on the candle's wax surface
